How the planet can learn from a worldwide reset.

In March of 2020, all of our lives changed. We saw the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus in real time, at an almost surreal pace.

Beginning in China, it wrapped its dark arms around the world, shuddering windows, closing doors, infecting the elderly and shutting out a global economy. It shut down the entire world machine.

But the engine is still running.

Now, after the world has had a little time to wrap its mind around this global reset, here are five reasons why we actually needed this virus.

1) We’ve Been out of Touch

For far too long, especially for the last decade, people have been out of touch with natural reality.

No longer is the human experience one entwined with the natural world. Now, it exists almost entirely within a digital landscape. We live inside our devices, and our experience with the natural world has diminished exponentially.

This virus is a reminder that the natural world is very real, and we are a very real and integral part of it.

Perhaps we should get back to those natural connections.
